Prompt/Theme for Friday, February 13, 2009
1. Tell the story of your first Valentine's Day together.
I don't exactly remember our first Valentine's Day, is that sad? The one I remember the most was the third Valentine's Day together in 2001. I think I remember this one the most because so far it was my favorite. Rocky surprised me by having me pack a bag for a night and he took me to this bed and breakfast just outside of town. It was in the middle of no where. It was a large beautiful home with several different theme rooms. We chose the western style room. It was just wonderful to get out of town and be alone with him. There is also another reason why this particular Valentine's was special to me. I worked really hard to find a suiting gift to give him but I didn't have money at the time. So I found a picture of him and I that I really liked and decided to draw it for him in pencil. I did the best I could but he loved it. You'll see my drawing below and the picture I used.
2. In reference to the first article, which "secrets" do you do well, which could you work on, which do you struggle with?
Anyone who knows Rocky knows that probably the best person for him is someone who can "fight the battle between your ears". I believe one of the "secrets" or qualities I'm good at is being able to forgive and not hold grudges. We all make mistakes and if we can love the person and accept them for who they are and not what we want them to be can do amazing things for your relationship. Also, what I believe and perceive about my husband reflects in our relationship and how he feels about himself.
My husband is very good at bringing happiness to our relationship especially when things are down or we are stessing. He's very good at saying, "Let's take a break and get out of here." He's also very good at taking me out on dates and wining and dining me. I just love him!
3. If you decide to take the advice of the second article, tell us what you're going to do, or share pictures if you have time!
This article has some really good advice as to improving your romance factor. Although some of you who know Rocky may not believe it but he is very romantic. We already incorporate most of the advice in this article in our daily lives.
So here is the drawing I did for Rocky in 2001. I know, it's not the greatest and you can't really see all the finer details. I scanned it several times and this is the best I could do. Below is the actual picture.

Challenges:
1. Even though I do not always agree with the commercial hype of Valentine's Day, take advantage of the excuse to be especially romantic and dote upon your hubby!
2. Even after Valentine's Day is over, be intentional about showing genuine kindness and tenderness to your husband!
