My Apron

So when my sister, Dacia & the kids were here for spring break, we got to do a few projects together. I fell in love with the apron she posted on her site and just had to have it. So she was so kind to bring me the exact material she used. But there was a catch, I had to make it myself.
What?!
No, I truly enjoy making things and having the satisfaction of saying I did that myself. Plus I needed to know how to make it so I could make more. I just love my sister and am always so happy when we can visit, go shopping, do projects together, and just enjoy each others company.

All the hard work, sweat and tears...okay maybe just a few tears.
The finished project.
NO not me, the apron. Trust me I still need a lot of work. ;0P

Alia's Birthday

I know this is a little late but all my posts have been for the past week. Alia's birthday was April 4th. She turned sweet 16...well I have no idea why they call it sweet 16. Teenagers are definitely challenging and I don't really care for this stage.

Dacia and the kids were here for their spring break and so we got to go over and celebrate Alia's birthday. There was tons of yummy food (fajita style) and of course cake...um um ummmmm!

Happy Birthday Alia!

Shooting Practice

This is one of Sora's favorite past times...shooting the BB gun. She is always asking if she can shoot the BB gun but she can only shoot it if there is an adult around. So a lot of the time we are saying later because Dad and I are busy doing other things. We're getting better at making time though.
This was another thing the kids did during spring break. Was take turns shooting the BB gun. Sora is getting really good and hits the target more often than not. I think after she has enough practice on this we'll move her up a noch. Yikes!
Here she is teaching her nephew, Tristan, how to load it, aim and shoot. And of course our beautiful grand-daughter, Trina. She had her turn shooting too but Olivia and her were more interested in playing basketball and running around.

Bon Fire Anyone?

Yeah, I know...we are so ghetto. This is a spot in our back yard where we get to have huge bon fires. The stuff in the background is farmer equipment that was left in our yard when we purchased the home. At least that's the story and I'm sticking to it. Yes, we are becoming islander farmers in Idaho.

Below is Sora getting ready for the big fire. This is one of the events Dad/Grandpa kept telling the kids he'd do but we'd get busy with something else during spring break. Well this day he finally got around to the bon fire. Yeah for all the Pyro's!
And the future pyro's of America. We teach our kids such good things, don't we? We couldn't forget our dog...he insisted on being a part of the event.

Yes, we actually let the kids help with shifting the debris in the fire so it would continue to burn. Like I said...we're such good examples, aren't we?
For those of you who might be worried, we did actually teach the kids what was okay to do and what was not. The importance of making sure to watch the fire that it did not spread and to make sure it was completely out before leaving it. After this event, they wanted a bon fire every night. Funny kids. It's nice when they are so easily amused. Olivia on the other hand seems to find things to do no matter what is going on or who is around. She's very good at entertaining herself. She decided to collect chicken feathers. And put them in a nasty rusted can. You'll notice from the pictures above that she is in the background looking for them and paying no attention to the fire. The other three were debating on who's turn it was to turn the debris in the fire with the huge stick.

Oh and I actually let her keep the rusted can and nasty feathers in her room on the window seal. Yeah, Dacia thought that was awfully nice of me. I normally wouldn't allow it but she likes to collect things (like chopsticks - used or unused, rocks, etc.) and I hardly let her keep them in the house. I let it slid this time. See...I can be lenient sometimes.

The kids also discovered why we didn't have as many eggs in the coop. The chickens had been laying them somewhere else. In the pig pen that was built two years back. We haven't gotten the pigs yet.
So of course they crawled in there to get them all out. Then I told them they had to act like pigs since they were in the pig pen. That would be what they were attempting to do in the below picture. Doesn't really look like pigs, does it? Well they sounded like them.

Kodi had to go get the biggest tumble weed I've seen to burn in the fire.

Crazy!
Trina with her uncle Kodi. I had to post this because it was just a cute picture.

Girl Things

So Friday of spring break I had two of my step-daughters, my two grand-children and my friends baby, Lilli. It was a house full of children and nothing I love more than that. And since the majority of them were girls (sorry Tristan), I get to do girl things like hair. So they all wanted their hair done the same. Sorry again Tristan and well Lilli it won't be long before you have long hair too. So here are my beautiful girls.
And handsome Tristan and my little Lilli bug.

Spring Break - Hotel Fun

Sorry I haven't posted anything for awhile. I've been really busy trying to get things in order and of course work is never ending.

These pictures are from spring break. We had our two youngest girls and two grand children. Yeah! So Daddy/Grampa decided to take us all for a night of fun. Swimming. He has a friend that got us a room at the Holiday Inn for free and we stayed the night. When we arrived, in our room were little treats (little custard pies with berries on top and cookies). It made us feel special. But the real purpose of going to the hotel was to swim. So the kids wasted no time getting into their swim suits and hitting the pool. They swam until their hearts content. Even Daddy/Grampa had a great time!
Um and yes (if you are wondering) I did censor my grand-daughter. I didn't think it was appropriate to expose her. But these were the only pictures I had of all of them together.

And yes, I did swim, but you know how it is when you are the one with the camera. You are hardly in any of the pictures. Sometimes I feel silly too asking someone to take a picture of me so I could at least have proof that I was there. This is Sora blowing her swim suit up.Our worn out tired little ones lined up and ready to share the bed.
L-R (Sora, Trina, Olivia, Tristan)
Yes, that would be Step-mom/Grama that had the kids bring some books. So they could get their reading in for school during spring break. Do I ever lighten up?
Oh one more thing, Olivia lost her tooth just before bed. That one was a rather stubborn tooth too. Sorry for the up close, graphic picture. Ha.
