My Baby Shower

Now tell me that this isn't the absolutely most beautiful baby shower you have ever seen?!

It was just so hard for me to pick which pictures to post when there are so many good ones. So here are just a few of the decor from my absolutely amazing baby shower by my sister, Dacia.

Party favors...and yes, she made these.

The glasses dipped in sugar with the tags on the bottom.

The beverage container.

The delicious appetizers and cake, made by my niece, Shendileen, with help from my sister, Dacia. The prizes for the games. Which by the way, I have to say, were the best gifts EVER, Lia Sophia jewelry which my sister, Dacia, sells.

More appetizers, feathers, the banner, ball lantern decor, and more food. YUM!

So we only played a few games but they were so much fun. This one is obvious. You put a plate on your head and draw a baby. I had to pick which one I liked best.

One of the games we played was being an artist. The object was to sculpt out of diapers what ever animal you drew from the hat. Can you guess what each one is?

The first two were my winners (a giraffe and elephant). Well I got to choose which ones I liked best. Which was very hard (by the way) because they were all SO cute!

We played one more game but there aren't any pictures of that because you basically take the prize and read a story while passing the prize either to your left or right when ever those words are read from the story. It was pretty nerve racking when you really wanted the prize and didn't want to pass the gift on. Too much fun!

I just want to take this moment to thank my sister, Dacia, for putting up with all my changes and demanding nature. She was a little worried, okay maybe more than a little worried, about doing my baby shower because I'm such a perfectionist and want things a certain way. But let me just tell you that she went above and beyond to create the most beautiful baby shower I could have ever asked for. I am SO blessed to have such a loving, wonderful family.

I also want to thank all my sisters, my nieces, my mother, and friends who helped with all the details and helping to decorate, make food, watch kids, clean, and anything else I missed. You are all amazing and I love each of you!

Baby Shower Preparations

I was so glad to be home from the hospital to be able to enjoy my baby shower that my sister, Dacia, has been planning for quite some time. I was actually cried in the hospital when I thought they weren't going to release me because I really wanted to have my baby shower. My sister kept telling me it would be okay even if they had to have it in the lobby at the hospital. I so didn't want to have the shower at the hospital.

Here is my sweet little niece, Lexi, being so helpful and preparing for the baby shower.
And here is me and Lexi. As you can see, I'm being a good little girl and following doctors orders...Bedrest...yuk!
I don't know how many times I've said this but I have an amazing family. Each one of them is so talented in their own ways. My sister, Dacia, and my niece, Shendileen, spent a great amount of time preparing the most amazing cake for my baby shower. I just love them to pieces!
Dacia, so happily icing away.
Shendileen overseeing. She does an amazing job making cakes.
Lexi, is the official cake filling tester. I think this met her approval.
Putting on the details.
I told you it was amazing! Isn't it just beautiful? Not only does it look great but it tasted delicious!
Thank you to all of my family and friends that helped with all the preparations. You know who you are...LOVE you all!

March 22, 2010 Admitted to Hospital

So it has definitely been a long time since I've had a chance to blog. So I'm playing catch up. I thought about just posting from this point forward but thought I would start from where I left off. This way if I ever want to create a book from my posts things wouldn't be left out.

So March 22, 2010 I went for a doctors appointment. To check my blood pressure and to make sure everything was okay with the baby. This time I didn't see my regular doctor because he wasn't in. Anyhow, the doctor I saw ended up admitting me to the hospital because my blood pressure was just too high.

This isn't the first time I was admitted. I was admitted the month before for the same reason. That time I was only admitted for a night and was told I needed to take it easy. So this time I tried to refuse being admitted. I ended up spending three hours at the doctors office before I left. At which time they finally convinced me to admit myself to St. Luke's.

So here I am, Tuesday morning, March 23rd not very happy about being in the hospital.
You can see how swollen I am. This isn't just normal swelling from being pregnant this is from having high blood pressure.
So my dad contacted one of his friends that lives here in Idaho. She contacted the missionaries to come over and give me a blessing.
During this stay I ended up having the amniocentesis procedure. Which is a procedure that examines the chromosomes of the fetus to determine lung maturity. Let me tell you, it is not comfortable. The doctor gave me a shot to numb the pain but that only numbs the surface. She then stuck a long needle in my stomach, right below my right rib cage. You can still feel it penetrate your uterus. Problem is she had to do it again because she was unable to get what she needed. The second time she asked if I wanted to be numbed. My response was, "It doesn't matter." I'm not sure what I was thinking. So she stuck me again a second time without numbing me. I think I'm a glutton for pain.

The results from the procedure were that baby's lungs were really under-developed. She said something about them measuring 18 and they should be around 43. So we decided the baby would get a shot of steroids, to help mature the baby's lungs.

I was tired of being in the hospital and the doctor on call was talking about keeping me there and possibly having to deliver the baby. I told her I wasn't sure about that and that I wanted to be released. Suffice it to say, I ended up staying another night. That is when I got to see my doctor, and he allowed me to be released ONLY if I followed doctors orders. Said I was to be on STRICT bed rest and they increased my blood pressure medication.

So I was able to go home. YEAH! I really wanted out of there because my baby shower was scheduled for that Saturday and I was so looking forward to it. So I was released Thursday morning and I flew mom up from Texas that day to help take care of me. I'm so lucky to have such a loving mommy!

Pregnancy Progression II

It's been a while since I have posted anything to my blog. Being pregnant can do that to you. Sometimes I just don't feel like doing anything. Last week Wednesday, February 24th I was admitted to the hospital after my check up with my doctor. My blood pressure was measuring 170/110. Obviously something that really concerned my doctor since I was 31 weeks. So he wanted to admit me to observe me and monitor the baby for 24 hrs.

I saw the maternal fetal medicine doctor (high risk pregnancy specialist). He took measurements of the baby which all turned out to be fine. Fortunately, they were able to lower my blood pressure and keep it down. So they released me the following day. I had to do a 24 hr urine collection so they could test for protein. Fortunately, that came back negative and I still do not have pre-eclampsia.

They increased my blood pressure medication from 100 mg once a day to 200 mg twice a day and told me to rest when ever I can. Laying down on my left side helps get oxygen to the baby and lowers your blood pressure. So I've been doing my best to follow doctors orders.

I'm also required to go in to the hospital twice a week for a NST (non stress test) to monitor the baby's heart rate to make sure the blood pressure medication isn't affecting the baby. Then I'm also to see my doctor once a week.

So I'm definitely earning this pregnancy. As of today we technically have eight weeks left. YEAH!

Pregnancy Progression

Well I wasn't going to do this because I just don't feel very pretty as a pregnant woman and I feel huge. But than I thought it would be nice to have some pictures for my viewing only, to see the progression of my pregnancy. Then I thought it wouldn't be fair to all my family and friends who don't get to see me on a regular basis to see how I'm progressing. So please be nice.

I'll spare you all the weekly pictures that I will be taken from this point forward. These two are actually the only ones I've taken. The first one is of course at the INSISTENCE of a friend who just wouldn't let me go without a picture (you know who you are . . . Summer. Oh did I say that out loud?) Love you *wink wink*

And YES my face is cropped out because like I said I just don't feel very pretty and wanted to spare everyone. So just be happy to see the belly.

Elisha's Baby Shower - Games

1st Game - Make a baby shirt out of a napkin.

Object: Hold the napkin behind your back and make the baby shirt by tearing the best you can without looking. Once you take the napkin from behind your back, you cannot do anything else with it. Mommy to be picks the one she likes the best.

Here are the results of the shirts. Darcy won this game.

2nd Game - Do I smell a smelly diaper?

Object: Guess what baby food is in the diaper, WITHOUT opening it (just by smelling). I guess the worst one was #6 which was broccoli and carrots.

Pictures of our guests smelling. Darcy & Buline.

Sora, Pat & Elisha.

Di and Mallory.

The winner, Alia.

3rd Game - Cotton Ball Connection

Object: Transfer the cotton balls from a bowl onto the ground using ONLY your nose. Each guest gets Vaseline (as much or as little as they want) and puts it on their nose.

This was the funniest game to watch of the games we played.

Elisha & Darcy (yeah, it does look kinda gross but it was funny!)

Our winner again, Alia. She really put her all into it.

4th Game - Dress the Baby

Object: Two people team up. Sitting side by side tie one of their left hand and one of their right hand together. The pair can only use their free hands to dress the baby. They must dress the baby completely with a onesie, socks, shoes, hand mittens and a hat. First team to finish wins.

Di & Alia

Mallory & Buline

Pat & Darcy

Mallory & Buline, our winners.

It was a lot of fun to try new games. Thanks to everyone that showed up and participated!
